Dear Sirs:
Please accept this letter as an addendum to the
original complaint letter previously submitted to your Office. The information
contained herein pertains to my original complaint regarding alleged
misrepresentation, misappropriation of funds, and alleged violations of the
Animal Welfare Act perpetrated by the non-profit 501 (c) (3) tax exempt
organization's owners/operators and Board of Directors of the Animal Sanctuary
of the United States, d/b/a Wild Animal Orphanage (WAO); f/k/a the Primate
Sanctuary of the U.S. (PSUS), f/k/a the National Sanctuary for Retired Research
Primates (NSRRP), f/k/a The San Antonio Wildlife Emergency Centre, f/k/a Primate
Sanctuary of America ( PSA ); f/k/a Chimp Aid; f/k/a Cat Haven; and f/k/a Feral
Cat Rehabilitation Center and Whisker's and Wag's Humane Society.
For many months now I have elevated my concerns regarding the exorbitant amount of money spent on fuel and unusual expenditures made on behalf of WAO personnel to your Office and to the Texas Western District Bankruptcy Court (by way of your Office), in the hopes that this Office would take action to protect public charitable donations from illegal use by individuals in charge of the WAO assets.
Please Note: As you read the following allegations and concerns, please keep in mind that the last of the WAO domestic and feral cats left the Talley Road property on December 11, 2012. http://www.ifaw.org/united-states/news/last-ones-out-wild-animal-sanctuary%E2%80%99s-feral-cats-finally-find-new-homes
Needless to say, November's MOR lists many unusual expenditures and missing checks even though there were only feral and domestic cats left on the Talley Road property. For example, what did Michelle Cryer purchase from the River City Exotic Pet Store--a store that sells exotic pets like snakes, lizards, frogs, spiders, turtles, and scorpions [item(s) purchased on November 6, 2013]? Perhaps she purchased another exotic reptile to add to her personal collection? http://www.yelp.com/biz/river-city-exotics-san-antonio
Why did she make about $578.81 gas purchases and an additional $131.33 food mart purchases during this month when there were only cats on the premise? Then there were the CVS pharmacy purchase [$9.72]; the two Banis towing expenditures [$140]; Samuel Glass replacement services [$204.11] and over $270 worth of purchases made at Walmart, whereas only $100.05 went toward the purchase of cat food. Why did Michelle Cryer need the truck towed again? Did Jamie Cryer steal the vehicle once more? Twice? What glass did Samuel Glass service replace? Residential or vehicle glass? Who or what caused the damage?
Then there was the $140 in over draft fees paid to bank as there were not enough funds to cover all the expenditures coming out of the WAO's bank account! Gee, I wonder why?
All of the above were just for the month of November. Now, let's take a look at December 2012 MOR:

Shocked! More missing receipts! Oh, and only one check was missing this month (#1426) - yay!
I also found it interesting that the Reiningers and Meyer received salaries for the week of 12/13/12 thru 12/19/12, despite weeks worth of pay for supposed "clean-up efforts" and no animals on the property. Plus Kelsey Dyer was paid-out her vacation pay owed--was this approved by the Western District Bankruptcy Court, and if so, why wasn't the Reiningers paid out, once and for all, on the same day? It looks like the Cryers are purposely extending salaries for the ladies, even though there is no work for them to perform--all at the donors' expense. And then there is the matter of the Christmas Bonuses -- Did the Western District Bankruptcy Court approve this expenditure and how was their bonus checks calculated? The amounts given were significantly higher than 2011.
I imagine January's MOR will be even more interesting
to review since it is now due and the animals have been gone for over a month!
Can't wait to see how much money was spent on gas, Wal-mart purchases,
convenience stores treats, and other stuff the Cryers may have bought, using
donors' funds, for their own personal use.
On a closing note, I saw that Ms. Cryer marked "no" on
paying all the bills on time this month--interesting--plus she marked "no" on #8
(Do you plan to continue to operate the business next month?). Shouldn't she
continue to submit MORs until the land is sold, since land payments must be made
each month? I noticed in the December 2012 MOR, there were no land payments made
--why? Plus, how will the OAG and the Western District Bankruptcy Court know
whether or not the Cryers spent WAO charitable funds on expenditures not related
to WAO business?

Kristina Brunner
