Wild Animal Orphanage Closing -- Grace White
They care for hundreds of exotic animals and they are closing their doors. The Wild Animal Orphanage says they can no longer afford to stay open.

"We've been overpopulated and underfunded for quite sometime," said Board Spokeswoman Suzanne Straw. Straw says they have 323 animals in their care. Their goal is to find homes for all of them within the next 60 days.

Straw says with the economic downturn many sanctuaries are overpopulated. "They'll say yes we can take that tiger, we can take that bear, but we are going to need a few months on our end," said Straw. Months, Straw says, the orphanage can not afford. She says they need more donations for food and to pay their electricity bill for the next 60 days.

The orphanage says they will not euthanize animals unless a doctor orders. Their plan is to stay open until every animal finds a home. For more information on the orphanage and their needs, click on the News Links portion of our website.
