The Chimps Have Arrived at Their New Home!!

Save The Chimps, Inc.

It's 1 am here at the sanctuary in Fort Pierce, and all is quiet. Little do the chimps know that in just a few more hours, some new neighbors will be moving in!

The chimps are just moments away from pulling into the gate at Save the Chimps in Fort Pierce, FL! Their long journey is almost over...

Katina, Tina, Kayla, Marc, Kaleb, and Late have moved in and are happy to stretch their legs. It was dark during unloading, so it was hard to get good photos, but we will try to post some this weekend. The chimps--and their human escorts!--are going to spend the rest of the weekend resting from their long journey. We will let you know when the chimps take their first steps on the island!

Save The Chimps, Inc. added 7 new photos to the album The Post-Migration Relaxation.

The Post-Migration Relaxation

Photos of the most recently migrated chimps resting and relaxing after their 36 hour cross-country journey from NM to FL:

The former WAO chimps have an amazing new life and I am thrilled they are living in Florida!  They look very happy and comfortable in their new home.

I cannot get over how much the lives of these chimps changed over the last several months!  After living at the WAO for so many years, they now have a wonderful forever home.

Thank you Save the Chimps, Inc., for giving the WAO animals this opportunity to have a new life, living as they should have years ago.

God is amazing--thank you God!

Later:

I was going through the August 2010 inventory listing and noticed that Katherine was not mentioned as one of the chimps traveling from New Mexico to Florida with the rest of the group.  I pray Katherine is okay  and still in New Mexico for she is only 27 years old...

August 25, 2011:

I think I may have found Katherine:

Reunited & it feels so good! [HQ]
Katherine arrived in Florida today while her friend Tina has been here a few weeks. When Katherine entered the building they were SO happy to see each other!
