Welcome Home Gizmo and Obi!!

I am so happy Obi and Gizmo are in Arkansas!  They are going to love all the attention they are going to receive from Pat!

Breaks my heart Gizmo arrived skinny.  Clearly both cats are missing muscle mass.  I'm willing to bet their teeth are terrible too.  However, I know Pat will see that he puts on some healthy weight very soon!

It angers me that the USDA/APHIS allows the cats to degrade to such a state.  I can only imagine how bad the rest of the cats look.

Oh, and I can just hear the excuses now come from the WAO and the USDA -- Cryer:  "Gizmo was recently neutered which is why he looks thin."  Or how about  this from Dr. Pannill:  "You know he probably lost weight in transit to your facility!"

What a joke!

Tigers Obi and Gizmo arrived yesterday (Sept 13) and are now in their new digs at our sanctuary, Top Of The Rock Wildlife Sanctuary.

They came from a sanctuary in San Antonio Texas that suffered financial distress and was forced to close. Big Kudos to Pat Craig's crew from Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado, who transported the tigers here safe and sound. Also, Kudos to IFAW for covering the trip expenses.

They are tired but seem to be in good shape. Gizmo is quite thin, but that will change soon enough, once on a quality diet. Obi is a small tiger. I have a dog bigger than her, but she is a real cutey pie. :)

I'll get some better photos once they settle in and move around more. They had a long trip but will do just fine. In a few weeks, I'll shoot some video of the new kids in the Top of the Rock Wildlife Sanctuary playground.

Old Apache is growly. The jealousy is so thick in the air, you can cut with a knife. :) Apache is very spoiled, but will adjust to Gizmo. Gizmo is very social, and trying hard to make up to Apache. Rani is next to Obi. Rani is always Ms Congeniality and is giving big chuff welcomes to Obi, but Obi is growly right now. She may be very small, but she can bark loud like a big tiger!

They all have their own large enclosures, so it's just bark and bluster right now, no one can hurt anyone.

Here are a couple photos I took, a few hours after their arrival yesterday.
