Jinxie's Lab Test Are In

In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center - Facebook posted 4.4.11

We got some results back from Jynxie's spay surgery, and the tumor they found in her uterus was a mast cell carcinoma! They are pretty sure that they got it all and she should be fine, but we're so glad she came to live with us in December so we could get her spayed, and avoid future problems!

I spoke with Vickie on Saturday to see if the lions were together and whether or not they enjoyed their new "toy."  Since Jinxie was still hiding in her shelter area, the staff agreed to put off the introduction until she was feeling a little better.  I let Vicky know that Jinxie was always shy around people, and perhaps putting the two lions together for a short time would encourage her to stay out of her shelter area.  Vicky said she would probably put the two lions together today for about an hour or so to see how they get along.

In any case, I was not surprised to learn the mass was cancerous.  Fortunately, it was level 1, which means she has a 95% chance of surviving.  If she had not been spayed, no one would have known how sick Jinxie truly was until it was too late.  This is definitely one occassion that I am glad the female was spayed and the male was left intact!

Sadly, the lions' toy Jeanette and I purchased did not make it on April 1st, so I need to see where it is!

Hi Kris,

Yep it arrived, thank you so much. We don't have a ball like that one. I'm sure they will love it. The "wedding" is at 1:00 and Jynxie did eat last night and has been out more the last couple of days.

Dinari, however is still not eating and is losing more and more weight.

I pray that both Jynxie and Dinari get better real soon so they can enjoy each other's company (along with the new toy, of course!) for many years to come...

Well, apparently Dinari and Jynxie's wedding went great today! Now that she is recovered from her spay surgery, they were together for about 30 minutes for the first time today (heavily supervised), and did awesome! Jynxie is completely ignoring him in the picture, and he looks somewhat stunned... :) We'll keep up the supervised visits, and hopefully they will be able to live together full-time soon!
The gift was not introduced for fear of the animals fighting over it.  So it will given to the "happy couple" later in the week (hopefully).
