WAO HIV Chimps?

As you may recall, 11 WAO chimps left the WAO for New Mexico and Florida, leaving the HIV infected chimps.

HIV chimps fall under Bio-Safety Level 2 Procedures (BSL-2) and according to the WAO website, Bio-Safety Level 2 Procedures (BSL-2) means that "all persons entering restricted areas must suit up and follow BSL-2 procedures. NO EXCEPTIONS! Any staff member not following standard operating procedures will be instantly dismissed."

If the following pictures were taken of the HIV chimps by Cryer, then she is violating (gasp) the Bio-Safety Level 2 procedures by interacting with the chimps (more candy, more sugary snacks).  These pictures were posted to Cryer's Facebook page on March 27, 2011:

And I wondered why so many of the WAO animals were sick or cross-infected with bacteria, virus, and/or other nasty contaminents over the last several years.  Answer discovered.  Case closed.
