The Wildcat Sanctuary welcomes Harley, Salem and Lakota

The Wildcat Sanctuary has been assisting an animal facility in Texas to reduce the number of animals they house. The facility has run into some management and financial difficulties and must reduce thier number of animals drastically. We have been assisting in the placement of bears, servals, caracals, tigers, lions and we have taken in three bobcats; Harley, Lakota and Salem.
Lakota is completely blind and deaf and Salem is partially blind and deaf. Both are very docile while Harley is the wild one as her name suggests. They are currently in our quarantine area and will likely stay there throughout the winter. As they are from Texas, they will not be used to our chilly Minnesota winters. Our new indoor quarantine area will provide them some much needed relief from those blustery cold days. They were a little timid at first but have since found themselves in a comfortable new home. Lakota enjoys lounging in his hammock and Salem, as small as she is, has an appetite like a tiger. Harley is still not sure about people but likes her enrichment. She rolls and rubs on perfume and other scents all the while grumbling at us, very cute.
This is the continuing journal of a former TX exotic animal sanctuary board director. These are my personal accounts and opinions relating to my investigation into the sanctuary. My thoughts and opinions change from time to time—I consider this a necessary consequence of having an open mind. This journal is intended to provide a semi-permanent point in time snapshot and as such any thoughts and opinions expressed within older posts may not the same, nor even similar, to those I may hold today.
